Mediocre people can not stand leaders because leaders are people who refuse to be mediocre. They defy the norms. They make the impossible possible. They make the mediocre people realise that they are not living up to their potential. And this feeling alone is the cause for them to ridicule a person with criticism. With negativity. With illogical statements of discouragement.
So if you have people laughing at your dreams, be happy because they are mediocre and you are about to become a leader. Because leaders defy odds and not the people who laugh at other people's dreams and goals. If they are not laughing at your goals it means they are not threatened by your goals and if your goals do not threaten the status quo, they are not big enough. So be scared if people are not laughing at your goals and be happy when they are. The world laughed at my dreams since I was in my early twenties and I smile in my heart watching them laugh till today.
